Arizona Trip

Yep, it was time to get away from the cold north and take a trip down south where the sun is a familiar friend!  So last week Dot, Dustin, and I flew down to Phoenix on the 6th and stayed down there till the 14th.  For the first part of our trip we stayed about two hours north of Phoenix at Sedona.  It was beautiful up there and the red rocks were really something.  On Tuesday then we drove another two hours farther north to see and experience the Grand Canyon!   That was really neat and it just amazed me with how big it is.  The rest of the week we did a lot of just enjoying the sun, walking the streets in Sedona, and relaxing.  It was a great family vacation.
Then on Friday morning we left Sedona and went back to Phoenix for a Freelife Convention.  Man, that was also really good to be at and we learned a lot.  Freelife keeps on doing more studies on GoChi and the past two are really something.  I'll refrain from going into details right now, but if you want to learn more then go to www.gethealthynow.freelife.com and watch the short trailer on the two new studies.  And if anyone of you are interested in sharing this health beverage to your loved ones that might be facing health challenges, just let me know and we can help you make some money in the process.
Sunday we hung out with other friends that were there for the convention, had a picnic in the sun, and just enjoyed the warmth (in the 90's).  And then we flew home on Monday.       Until next time,  Dwight

Here is my yearly update for all you xanga people out there.  I decided to use our end of year letter to simplify things a little:)  Maybe if something really exciting happens then I will update before 2009, but don't expect it too often.

                 Greetings from the Troyers                                                                               2007

“Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.  Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”  Psalm 103:1-5 (emp. added)
Dear family & friends,
Truly ‘of the fullness of His love we have all received one blessing after another’!  Though I can’t say I treasure trying to sum up a whole year of our lives in one short letter, I do realize that times of reflection most often turn into moments of thanksgiving, so before I run out of time and space let me give credit where it’s due... to JESUS CHRIST our SAVIOR... the One who forgives, heals, redeems, crowns, satisfies, and renews!  And yes, He’s done it again countless times in our lives in 2007!  Praise Him!
It seems like this past year has gone by so swiftly.  Can it be that little more than a year ago it was still ‘just the two of us’? Is it possible that in 365 days a little one can go from tiny and helpless to independent and walking?  Oh what miracles we witness every day and rarely take time to realize!  Dustin is now a year old and adds so much to our lives!  We wonder what kept us busy before he was born!  He is easy going, happy, and loves a good ‘laugh til you hicup’ moment!  His ‘genuine boy’approach to some things in life give us many a chuckle!  He practically begs to wrestle, wants to eat everything you have, and cries when he looks
out the window and sees his daddy on a tractor or forklift!  Without a doubt his favorite food is grapes, and like his cousin, Landon, a ‘restock’ at the grocery store means make a mad dash for the checkout counter before the whole store hears the tantrum!    I figure it’s at least better than having found the candy isle! (by then we’ll have to come up with a better strategy, I know!!!  We’re open to suggestions by the way!)  The highlight of any day is when his daddy is home, whether it’s just for lunch or  after a long day’s work... he doesn’t like his daddy out of sight if at all possible, unless of course it’s for a fun  game of peak-a-boo.  We pray that we could raise him for the LORD... to be a man who loves and lives to serve Jesus.  We’re far from perfect, but we hope that he will still pick up bits and pieces of the knowlege of God through our lives.
The other addition to our family... of which there is no recent picture partially due to the cold and snow and partly ‘cause of how pointless it would be to even try to take a ‘still’ shot of her... is our dog Lex.  She’s huge, healthy, and hyper!  Enough said!  Yes, I like her in a ‘distance’ kind of way, it’s just that weight + energy= nearly knocked flat... and I don’t care so much for that!  Dustin loves to watch her and in the process of helping to feed her will let her lick his hands!  Again, no comment from mom.
As for Dwight and I... we have yet to have an overabundance of bored moments!  Besides lots of traveling, the role of youth advisors, and being on several church committees we’re learning the value of flexibility and allowing oneself to be stretched!  Being in the lot of a deacon ord. at church in Aug. ‘caused us to realize anew that we are ALL called to a lifetime of service to our Lord and need a servant heart... and one’s age is NO excuse!  We want to be found faithful and useful to Him.
Besides being a full time husband and father (an excellent one for that matter!), my dear man stays busy with work at Wood-Tex.  This summer he switched from putting vinyl on sheds to specializing more in gazebos.  He loves the detailed work!  He still enjoys hunting as a hobby turned ’need meat for the freezer’ type of thing... though this year quality woods time took a low since they were still so busy at work.  He was blessed with 1 successful hunt and LOTS of tales to be told for years to come!
Our newest venture is starting a side business through Freelife International.  They specialize in Goji Juice and other natural products, soaps, vitamins, etc.  We’re excited about it and have seen results both in our lives and some of those we’ve shared it with so far!  Don’t ask me the specs, I just know it works!    It’s also been really educational researching chemicals and realizing how much we truly are  ‘FDA guinea pigs’!  We had no idea half of the junk that is in stuff we were using every day!  So yes, we’re working on ‘cleaning house’ and look forward to seeing what difference it will make!  Our challenge to you is to check some things out for yourself!  For more info. on what we’re involved with you can go to www.gethealthynow.freelife.com
We look forward to V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N over Christmas/New Year’s break... though we plan to be gone most of the time!  I don’t think that will be too much of a problem as long as there are NO deadlines or times to HAVE to be there or DO something by ‘such and such o’clock’... I think we’ll be good to go!!!
Thanks to all for your friendship and the examples you’ve been to our lives (yes, you may not have even known it!!)... we love each one of you!  Our prayer for you is that you would ‘go with GOD’ this coming year... let Him be ALL things, let Him be LIFE to your heart!  We live but for a moment, a breath.  We get only ONE chance. Don’t waste your life.
                                                                With much love~
                                                                                   Dwight, Dorothea, and Dustin

Another update....

Well, talk about a very busy May.  This is the first weekend that we have been home and it was way past time.  The first weekend we took a little vacation to the Berkshire Mt. in Mass.  It was just for the weekend and we had a good relaxing time.  With Dustin not feeling 100% we didn't want to take him outside too much so we were pretty limited to what we could do, but we had a good time anyway.

Then the second weekend we went to Ohio for my youngest brother's graduation.  Congrats Stan!  You worked really hard and I'm proud of you.  We had a good weekend there with family and had a really good day on Saturday at the school picnic.  Got to see some old friends and play some softball.

And last weekend we went to Indiana to a 03-04 Hillcrest reuniun.  We weren't planning on going but after I saw a list of everybody that was going to be there, I decided that there was no way I could miss it.  So we went and had an awesome weekend seeing lots of friends.

But it was also realy good to just stay at home this weekend.  There is just a lot of stuff around here that I had been putting off this past month so now I am trying to catch up a little.  Stuff like finish planting the garden.  Its all done except some sweet corn didn't come up so we are going to plant it again and maybe it will work this time.  Mulch the flower beds around the house.  Train Lex ( our four month old Rottwieler puppy that is growing like crazy), and lots of little things.  So have a good week all of ya'll and keep serving Christ!  Until later.....

A few more updated photos...

Or maybe no more pictures because I can't upload any pictures.  Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?  It says "uploading" but the transfer rate says 0 KB/s and nothing happens so you guys just won't get to see any photos of my 'big' little guy until somebody helps me figure out this thing.  Sorry!

So I will try to fill you in on our lives without the pictures which will make it a lot more boring but that's your problem because you don't have to read it.  We had weekend meetings with JD Hostetler from PC, Ohio and they were really good.  He challenged us on several different subjects and though it made the week busy was well worth the time and effort to go.  It does make it a little more difficult to go somewhere every evening and try to keep a little guy quiet for an hour and a half but we survived.

And the weather around here is almost nice enough to be called spring.  We are getting a few days here and there that are absolutely gorgeous, but then a cold damp day hits or maybe even some snow flurries!!!   Moving south for the winter sure doesn't sound so stupid to me after the last several years up here.  But I think that I have a few more years of heavy labor before that will be possible.

And while we are on here anyway..... how about them Buckeyes!!!!   I am like really impressed that they made to the championship game and all I've got to say is that the Gators are lucky that Mike and Greg are freshman.  Not that I think that its automatically the Gator's game cause its not,  but they are defidently a worthy opponent.   And to all who think that this or any game is a gimme before the game is even played should be reminded of a FL-OH  ST.  matchup just a few short months ago.  GO BUCKS!!!

Hello to all,  I finally got a xanga site to keep up with some of you.  I won't be updating often since extra time is pretty much not available, but every once in a while I might add something.

For now I'll just write a little about my life.  Life is really good right now.  My wife and I just had our first child three months ago tomorrow and since then we have been taking it easy this winter.  Having a kid really changes your whole life and the freedom you once had just isn't there.  Don't get me wrong life is much better now then it ever has been.  Having a little one around the house is a lot of fun and we are enjoying it a lot.  Dustin Wade is his name and he is growing way faster then I ever thought possible.  He is basically in nine month clothes already and weighs in at around sixteen pounds.  So before we know it he will be running around and getting into everything

The only other things that we did this winter besides staying at home and working, is a volleyball tournament in Feb. and going home to PC in March to spend a good weekend with family.

Well, I guess that is all til next time.
